Post-Jam Update:

Thank you so much to everyone who has played and rated Descriptionary! A quick update from us: the game is now playable in browser! Descriptionary is best enjoyed with Hardware Acceleration On in browser settings, so if your game is lagging a little that might just fix it!

We're so grateful for all the support the GMTK community has given us, it's absolutely unreal to see our game be featured in the video alongside many other amazing games. As many have commented, this game was originally designed for a multiplayer experience, and we've decided to continue development to work towards that goal! Stay tuned for more updates from us in the future C:

It’s Descriptionary - The game where anybunny can draw!

Descriptionary is like a classic drawing board game, but the roles are reversed; instead of drawing something based on a prompt while others guess what you’re drawing, you’re given a vague description of something and then you have to guess what you were supposed to be drawing!

Join our bunny-themed cast featuring a wide variety of characters who all need your help! Try to navigate their individual mannerisms in order to depict what they’re trying to describe, all under a time limit.

Controls

  • Choose a colour from the bottom-left corner of the screen, then click and drag your mouse along the canvas to draw.
  • If you make a mistake, just use the eraser tool next to the colours, or restart entirely using the clear tool in the top-right corner of your canvas.
  • You read drawing prompts on the top of your screen, and you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll through all of the dialogue from each bunny.
  • When you think you know what you’re drawing, click on the ‘Guess Here’ textbox, input your answer, and hit enter.
  • If you’re right, you win! If you’re wrong, you can keep guessing until the timer runs out.
  • If you run out of time, you can carry on to the next level -  anybunny can beat this game!

I liked this a lot. Had me laughing at my own drawings. Cute bunny design with all their different outfits. Also Disaster of Passion easy listening version is great. My only gripes are that the color scheme of this page (white text on peach) is pretty hard on my eyes and that the aspect ratio of the game window for the browser version is locked to such a large size, so I had to manually adjust the zoom in my browser. Other than that its a great little game!

Cute! This was a really clever idea. Some of the descriptions didn't quite work for me (for instance, I made the fidget spinner with the curved lines pointing outward, not inward, although I guessed what it was supposed to be correctly), but this was a unique good time.

I worry if this becomes a game where you can make custom descriptions what kind of things people are gonna make other people draw lmao

Tho maybe that could be more fun haha

Question, is this still being worked on?

I hope so, because this game jam game felt like a bolt in a bottle, one of those ideas that was solid through and through and just needed more to really sell it ^w^

lmao it's lightning in a bottle XD

like gartic phone

(+2)

PLS i kept messing up the instructions and wht i did looked nothing like its supposed to

(+3)

I have done a playthrough on this, the reverse drawing concept is honestly so cursed and I'd love to see more

(+4)

there should be an option to give up and go to the answer but other then that its good

will keep that in mind, thank you for the feedback!

hello im having a problem where the right arrow key is not going to the next step when i press it.

its working now sorry for the inconvenience great game.

Glad you got it resolved o7 hope you enjoyed!

Amazing game.

Thank you for your kind words!

What a lovely game! It was not easy drawing with a mouse, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've seen Momo mentioning a full release, I wonder if that would still be on itch.io?

That would be me! If it's within the realms of possibility I'd like to keep it on itch.io, but with the expansion into multiplayer we might have to move towards hosting it on our own servers. We'll update dev logs about it when the time comes regardless though!

This is a fun twist on pictionary. I enjoyed it so much that I've introduced the concept to my family and friends, and we play it with a word generator and (virtual) whiteboard.

The different bunny personas were a cute detail as well. Great job!

That's amazing! That was our original vision for the game as well, and we're hoping to get a multiplayer out as well later on. Thank you for playing!! <3

I lost braincells following the instructions clearly shows the sleep deprivation in the writer.

Thank you for your comment! Our writers and designers worked really hard on the instructions and we're so sorry if they were hard to follow. Do you mind sharing some more specific information on what instructions you thought were unclear, or if you have any feedback on how we can improve? Once again, thank you so much for playing!

Congrats on making top 20 in the GMTK Jam! I wanted to reach out to ask if anyone on the dev team would be interested in participating in an interview about your experience during the jam? Interviews are conducted over Discord and presented live on Twitch.

I wish there was a "give up" button so I don't have to wait out the timer

great idea! congrats on the top 100

That was so fun!!  And quite difficult too ^^

Would love to see this idea expanded into a full thing ^^

Can this game PLEASE have ctrl+z, an undo+redo button, word descriptions for the solutions (still don't know what that man standing on a plank with wheels is supposed to be, after the mailbox) and not have to click the text box, but can start typing and keep guessing without using my mouse.

Hi :). i know this is really out of the blue, but I've looked at your comments on a bunch of games made at my university. I like how you're just straight to the point and honest about stuff. Could you maybe take a look at a small gamejam game i published called "Nova"? and leave some feedback? If you want to of course! :0

Thank you for these great suggestions, these are all things we're hoping to implement in a full release! And that is a skater :-)

This was pretty fun! I could see this being a great game to play with friends irl

The music reminds me of disaster of passion for some reason

[4]6HS to instantly become funny

Really fun concept! The different narrators makes you second guess each time.

I got stumped with the later prompts because I misunderstood the assignment, but that's what makes it more fun in my eyes!

I only have one major gripe with this game: I can't see what I've drawn after the answer is revealed aaaaaaaahhh!!! Like I said, comparing your answer with the actual answer makes it much more fun in my eyes.

How to fullscreen?

I love it! the art and concept was so nice. My only problem would be that sometimes it's a bit hard to follow if you're not fully fluent in English, for example, the text of the mathematician character.
Still, really cool game, it made me feel smart when I figured it out.

Any chance of getting a Mac version some time?

the game should now be playable in browser! thank you so much for checking out our game, let us know if you like playin it <3

Very cute! Cool concept, and I especially liked that the levels feature different types of narration.

I just think some of the puzzles should allow for alternative solutions. Especially the one where you're drawing a face. I figured out that it was a face almost immediately, but spent a lot of time figuring out that "smiley" was the exact word the game wanted.

"face" worked for me

aw man zekmrk you beat me to it! I just updated the game to include a web browser version, and I sneakily put in a new accepted answer for the first level ;)

We do have a list of alternative solutions, but unfortunately with limited playtesting we didn't really catch all the cases, so thank you so much for pointing these out :D and thank you so much for playing the game as well <3

I would love to play this but i am unable to change the resolution so I cant see the timer or half the bunny

Aw man sorry to hear that! We're working on getting the game working for different resolutions but for now we just have things for 16:9 aspect ratios. We just updated a browser version though so I hope you might be able to try it now, please let me know if there are any other issues!
